(1)  What’s your Name?

Ans: My Name is Michael Manuwa

(2)  For those hearing of you for the first time, how would you describe yourself as an artist?  

Ans: I’m a new generation Hip-hop artiste with a rooted background in pop and other forms of Music production.

(3)  How long have you been involved in making Music?

Ans: I started music officially in 2010 but before I was discovered by klaplyne music in 2009, I had my first stage performance as a rapper in 2005.

(4)  How did you get into Music? And what inspired you to take music seriously?

Ans: I didn’t get into music, Music chose me. While growing up I never thought I’d take it seriously but as fate will have it I was introduced to beat making and sampling in 2007. Also, haven’t been in the scene for a while, Music production and song writing has become a second nature.

(5)  Where do you get Inspiration for your Music?

Ans: Like I said earlier, music chose me so I don’t force it. I write when I have a burden about a particular theme or as the spirit leads.

Ans: Yes. Klaplyne Music, Finland & Pep Entertainment Management, Nigeria

(7)  What is life like as an UpComing Artist?

Ans: Motivating

(8)  Have you done an album yet? If no, have you got any project you’re working on at the moment?

Ans: Despite my huge portfolio of songs including those with featured artistes I haven’t released an official album yet but I have release two (2) E.Ps of about six (6) tracks each, titled: The Wednesday Massacre (2011) & The Altar Call (2011) respectively. I’m currently working on my album.

(9)  What is it about you that sets you apart from other artists?

Ans: My patience and the faith I have in my team.

(10)    What has been the highlight of your career so far?

Ans: MTN Southwest Tour with DJ ZEEZ and Friends.

(11)    If you had to work with one person in the industry, who would it be and why?

Ans: Naeto C, I like his style of rap and almost impeccable delivery.

(12)  Besides music, what other activities do you participate in?

Ans: I’m an occasional computer programmer and a voracious reader

Ans: Funds

(15) Where do you see yourself five years from now?

Ans: I see myself doing it big in the industry and helping upcoming artistes in terms of sponsorship, orientation, development and support

(16) What is your opinion of the current state of Nigerian music?

Ans: It’s surprisingly growing

(17) Any plans to expand across Africa and the world?

Ans: Of course, that’s why I signed a production deal with Klaplyne music, Finland.

(18) What is the greatest thing about working in the music industry? And what would you change if you had the opportunity?

Ans: The greatest thing about working in the music industry is the competitive spirits I see in my colleagues and if I had my way I’d change our folk’s impression about entertainers in general. They see us as loafers and wasters which is very untrue. We artistes are one of the most hardworking people on planet earth.

(19) Throughout your career so far, what’s the best advice that someone has given you? And what advice would you give to fellow UpComing artists? 

Ans: “Cane your line…”

(20) What do you think about what the “Alaba Hits” company is doing for all the upcoming artists, promoting their music?

Ans: I think it’s innovative and if others can extend such generosity we would have more quality artistes in our industry

Background: He grew up listening to Fuji, juju and Afro beat. He was introduced to hip hop at a tender age and decided to further his knowledge in the art thereafter. He likes rap as well as software engineering. He has helped produce and promote upcoming artistes like Brace, Lummy P, Tu-TIPSY, E. Tizzle, G. Factoria, MarqoiMIX, and many more through KLAPLYNE MUSIC which he co-founded. He has recorded 2 E.Ps (6 TRACKS EACH, WEDNESDAY MASSACRE AND ALTAR CALL respectively) and several MIX-TAPES which were well received by both critiques and fans. He’s a graduate of computer science and he served his nation as a school teacher in Cross Rivers state, Nigeria in year 2012.
